Houston is home to 2.3 million residents and claims the number four spot on the list of most populous cities in the United States. At Ingenious Dentistry, we know there are hundreds of things to see and do on any given day.

Dr. Dale Brant says, “As a longtime resident of Houston, I know there are so many great things to do in our vibrant city. From the Zoo to Space Center Houston to Memorial Park Golf Course and the NRG complex, there are fun-filled places to go and interesting things to do for the whole family.”
Here’s a quick look at five of our favorite things to do in town.

1. Visit the Houston Zoo
Dr. Brant says “The Houston Zoo, located in Hermann Park, is a must see.” Among all the other great sites, the Gorilla exhibit is now open allowing you an intimate look at two troops of western lowland gorillas native to the African rain forests. Purchase an annual membership and the cost pays for itself in just two visits – perfect for the occasional weekend trip.

2. Catch an Astros game
Show your H-town pride with an Astros game under the stars. Minute Maid Park is the perfect place to enjoy America’s pastime. Root for the home team while enjoying traditional ball park food or upgrade your baseball experience and catch the action from one of the premium suites. The park even offers 1.5 hour tours where diehard fans can check out the dugout, press box, and more.

3. Take the kids to Discovery Green and then out to eat
Breaking up the streets and skyscrapers of downtown Houston is a gorgeous park. Take the family on an impromptu trip to the dog park, splash pad, walking trail or pond or grab a bite to eat at a restaurant nearby. Dr. Brant says, “I love to eat and Houston has some of the best restaurants in the country, if not the world. The BBQ is excellent and we are on the Texas Gulf Coast, so the seafood is outstanding.”

4. Visit a museum
The city’s museum district is home to a whopping 19 museums, ranging from fine art to science and health and more. Dr. Brant notes, “The Houston Metro Rail line runs directly in front of our building and just a couple of stops up from our building are the best museums in Houston.”

5. Geek out at the Space Center
It’s no wonder the Space Center consistently earns a spot on lists of things to do in Houston. It hosts a variety of exhibits such as the rotating events of the Space Center Plaza and the current Mythbusters: The Explosive Exhibition running through September 5, 2016. It doesn’t matter whether you’re 9 years old or 90 –there’s a little something for every space lover in the family. The Space Center is open seven days a week and tickets can be purchased online along with membership and City Pass admission discounts.
