Dental Core Build Up is a procedure that can be done even when a tooth or teeth have become badly damaged. In the past, a break in a tooth or a crack that had been left alone for a while would sometimes just be extracted. That does not have to be the outcome now, however.
With the technological advancements that have been made in dentistry in the last few decades it has become more of an option to save even the worst tooth or teeth. Now it is possible for the patient to not only have it repaired but to result in having a restorative treatment such as Dental Core Build Up that will be hard to distinguish from the other natural tooth or teeth.
This process replaces the material that is missing in the tooth or teeth including the interior section and the surface. This gives the dentist a foundation to which he or she can attach crowns made of gold or porcelain to as a restorative procedure.
When performing Dental Core Build Up, the dentist will more than likely opt to use a composite dental bonding resin. This is a very good material that is bio-friendly as well as having the great ability to match the natural tooth color of the patient’s natural teeth. It is also a very hard and durable substance that will last.
This procedure begins with the dentist numbing the affected areas. The idea is to make the patient as comfortable as possible. Once the areas affected are numbed, the dentist will then examine all of the teeth and identify where the decayed sections are and then begin to remove the cavities. This is done through using various types of tools for this type of job. After this has been done, an etching solution will be applied to the remaining surfaces of the tooth or teeth to ready the area for the Dental Core Build Up. This makes the remaining surfaces to fill with small lines that, in turn, make the surfaces more able to accept the bonding material. Once the bonding resin has been applied, it will need to dry. Some types are self-drying and others need a special light over them to become hardened.
After this portion of the procedure has been finished, the dentist is now ready to shape the tooth or teeth. This is done so that the crown can then be fitted upon the partial tooth or teeth.
Impressions are taken and sent to a laboratory for the crown or crowns to be made, and a temporary crown will be put in place. During the next appointment, the crown will be received from the lab and sent to the dentist for placement. The dentist will then replace the temporary with the permanent crown.
Dental Core Build Up is a very important procedure to have done because it gives the patient’s mouth the benefit of being healthy through supporting the other healthy teeth. This type of procedure also makes the foundation for the crown more sturdy and able to last longer.
