Dr. Brant of Ingenious Dentistry Discusses the Dr. Chao Pinhole Technique on Local News

Accomplished local dentist Dr. Dale Brant, principal of Medical Center Dental Group, recently appeared as part of a panel of distinguished medical experts answering health questions on Great Day Houston.

Carried by KHOU Houston, Great Day Houston is one of the city’s most popular morning news programs. Invited for the “Medical Monday” segment, Dr. Brant spoke to host Deborah Duncan and answered dental health questions.

Dr. Brant greatly enjoyed his appearance on the program. “It was fabulous!” he says. “Deborah Duncan is a very kind and warm person. She is very enjoyable to talk with and she and her staff made it a very fun experience.”

The host and panel spoke on a variety of topics, including the merits of a vegan diet and the importance of using prescription medication correctly.
After touching on a range of community health concerns and introducing some important dental health concepts to the studio audience, Dr. Brant spent time one-on-one with Ms. Duncan to discuss the Dr. Chao Pinhole Technique.

Dr. Brant Describes the Dr. Chao Technique for Those Suffering from Receding Gums

Dr. Brant reviewed the reasons why people suffer from a recession of the gums. Genetics, dental health habits and simply living longer can all contribute to gum recession, which makes teeth appear longer. In severe cases, recession weakens the gums’ hold on teeth.

“Unfortunately, over 75% of the adult population has some sort of gum disease,” Dr. Brant says. “Most people do not go to the dentist on a regular basis, so the first piece of advice is for them to schedule an appointment with a dentist for an evaluation and cleaning. This is the first and best step to prevent gum disease.”

Even those with good oral hygiene are at risk of recession if they suffer periodontal disease, a chronic disease process that can destroy soft tissue. Over a long enough time, brushing too roughly with a hard-bristled toothbrush can also contribute.

When a recession occurs, the root surface of the tooth can be revealed. This makes them vulnerable root structure of the tooth more susceptible to decay and trauma. In previous years, “gum grafts” were used to resolve the problem. These required sutures and long-term recovery.

The Dr. Chao Pinhole Technique Difference

With the Dr. Chao Pinhole Technique, the situation is very different.

Conceived as a response to uncomfortable, intensive gum surgery, the Dr. Chao Pinhole Technique makes things much easier. A tiny incision is made in the gums above the receding areas. The tissue is gently “teased” downward so it can relax into the areas where more tissue is needed.

The procedure is fast, painless, and requires no prolonged recovery period.

“It is a much easier way to treat receding gums,” Dr. Brant says. “There is no cutting and no sewing, and the patient has a lot less discomfort as compared to the traditional surgery to treating receding gums.”
